Digital asset ETP provider ETC Group has partnered with ETF provider HANetf to introduce the ETC Group Web 3.0 Ucits ETF, marking Europe’s first Web 3.0 ETF.
The ETF targets 20 companies engaged in the four primary themes driving Web3’s expansion: NFTs & tokenisation, blockchain technology, the metaverse, and big data and AI.
The ETF, classified under Article 8 of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), incorporates environmental and social considerations into its index methodology. It tracks the Solactive ETC Group Web 3.0 Index, which is ESG-screened and employs AI-driven construction to ensure it remains relevant in the rapidly evolving sector.

According to the providers, despite substantial global investment in Web3, the theme remains in its early stages. The fund provides unique exposure to this transformational shift, making it the first and only ETF in Europe focused on Web 3.0.
Chanchal Samadder, head of product at ETC Group, commented: “The transition from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 is poised to be one of the most transformative shifts of our time, redefining the very essence of the internet and the digital economy.”
Hector McNeil, co-founder and co-CEO of HANetf, added: “The ETF is the first opportunity for investors in Europe to invest in a Web 3.0 ETF. This theme is still nascent, and the ETF potentially offers investors the chance to capture this transformational shift.”
