Standard Life Wealth, a discretionary fund manager, has promoted John Hair to chief investment officer, and Julie-Ann Ashcroft to head of investments.
The firm said the promotions were part of its ambitious plans to grow the business and both Hair and Ashcroft moved to Standard Life Wealth following the acquisition of Newton private client business in 2013.
Ashcroft will work alongside Darren Ripton, head of investments, and will report to Hair.
Hair will have responsibility for the overall performance of Standard Life Wealth’s £6.7 billion investment portfolios and will form part of the leadership team based in London.
He will continue to manage portfolios for charities, private clients, trusts and pensions.
Ashcroft will have overall responsibility for the firm’s conventional portfolios, as well as managing The Balanced Bridge Fund, and the Standard Life Wealth Offshore Income Fund.
Ripton is responsible for the oversight of Standard Life Wealth’s Target Return portfolios.
Richard Charnock, CEO, said Hair’s appointment was “testament to the depth of talent we have in the business that we were able to fill this role internally”.
