GAM hires new head of institutional sales for UK and Ireland

Pimco’s Ben Edwards has left to join Swiss asset manager GAM in its push into UK institutional business.

Edwards joins GAM has head of institutional sales for UK and Ireland and is based in London.

At Pimco, where Edwards spent ten years, he most recently had the same role and now reports to Tim Rainsford, GAM’s group head of distribution. Rainsford joined GAM from Man Group in January.

Rainsford said Edwards has a “long and successful track record in helping clients meet their investment objectives”.

Zurich-based GAM markets under two brands, GAM and Julius Baer Funds, and is active in eleven countries.

Last year GAM said it would close one of its four London offices.

The firm recently recruited Matthew Beesley to head of equities.

Listed on the Six Swiss Exchange GAM has assets under management of 120.7 billion Swiss francs (€112.7 billion).
