Brussels-based asset manager Candriam Investors Group, owned by multi-boutique manager New York Life Investment Management, has strengthened its sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) team with two appointments.
The firm has appointed Isabelle Cabie and Wim Van Hyfte to its SRI team. Cabie’s title is now global head of responsible development and Van Hyfte is global head of responsible investments and research.
The pair will both report to Candriam’s chief investment officer Vincent Hamelink.
Cabie will be in charge of the development of the active ownership strategy, for instance engagement, proxy voting, promoting SRI and leading Candriam’s corporate social responsibility policy. She has over 20 years of experience in macroeconomics, institutional portfolio management and sustainable and responsible investments.
Van Hyfte will be responsible for investment research and analysis on sustainability. He joins from the quantitative team at Candriam where he was senior fund manager and SRI specialist co-managing over $3billion (€2.8 billion) in global SRI quant equity funds and segregated accounts. With his team of SRI research analysts, the firm hopes he will play a key role in the creation of “innovative” ESG (environmental and social governance) products and investment solutions.
He has over ten years of experience in the management of large client portfolios with a special focus on sustainable investments, the development of multi-factor methods, tools for alpha generation and risk management.
Around 21% of Candriam’s assets under management are in SRI products, which amounts to €21.6 billion, as of December 31, 2016.
