Investcorp affirms European expansion

Neil HassonBahraini real estate investment firm Investcorp has appointed Neil Hasson as managing director for Europe, the firm’s first posting in the region.

Hasson’s initial focus will be on real estate opportunities in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. Key areas of interest include core plus residential and commercial property opportunities.

Hasson has nearly three decades of experience in European real estate investment, at firms such as Citi Property Investors and Goldman Sachs.

Most recently, he was senior managing director at Macquarie Group, responsible for the firm’s European real estate lending business. Macquarie itself has expanded its European operations this year, most notably with the appointment of former-Vicinity Limited chief executire Steven Sewell in January.

Founded in 1982, Investcorp is one of the biggest foreign buyers of real estate in the US, having closed deals worth around $1.5 billion (€1.35) billion in the past year. The firm manages assets of around $10.7 billion.
