Alfi appoints Voss as chairman – Saluzzi announces retirement

The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (Alfi) has appointed Denise Voss as chairman, a position that will initially run for two years.

Voss has played a key role in Alfi for a number of years, holding the position of vice chairman for international affairs since 2011 and a place on the Alfi board of directors since 2007. She is also chairman of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) investor education working group.

She replaces Marc Saluzzi, who made the following comment:
“I will not only step down from the Alfi Board of Directors after two successive two year mandates, but I will also retire from PwC on June 30, 2015.

“My plans for the immediate future are not formalized yet but my clear intention is to give back to my three professional families, which are PwC Luxembourg, Alfi and obviously Luxembourg, as a country, through its promotional agency. I will put my experience and my network at their disposal for the next few years.”

Voss, who takes over from Saluzzi with immediate effect, is conducting officer of Franklin Templeton International Services, a Luxembourg-based company, managing both Ucits and alternative investment funds in and outside of the EU. She began working with Franklin Templeton Investments in 1995 and has worked in the financial industry in Luxembourg since 1990.

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Voss worked in the audit division of Coopers and Lybrand in Boston, USA and Luxembourg for over nine years.

Commenting on her appointment, Voss says: “The asset management industry in Europe has gone through dramatic change over the past few years, with extensive regulation that has been put in place following the crisis, and Alfi has played a key role in working through the implementation of this regulation.”

She adds that challenges for Alfi in the coming years involve retirement solutions for an aging population, the growth of digital technology and changing buying habits.

“My role is to inspire the industry to focus on these issues and to ensure that the Luxembourg Fund Industry continues to play a key role in driving the development of the industry worldwide, encouraging economic growth and providing long-term financial security for individuals.”
